Gilbert M. Simas, MD, MBA

Dr. Gilbert Simas has worked in the addiction field since 2004 and is board-certified in general psychiatry and addiction psychiatry. He earned his medical degree from St. Matthew’s University and completed his general adult psychiatry residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He later completed an addiction psychiatry fellowship and earned a health care MBA from Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU).
His many accolades and expertise in treating co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders set him apart within the addiction field. He has dedicated the majority of his career to dual diagnosis treatment utilizing therapeutic and pharmacological treatment modalities.
Throughout his career, Dr. Simas has provided psychiatric and addiction care in inpatient and outpatient settings. His experience includes psychiatric evaluations, medication management, telepsychiatry, medication-assisted treatment for opioid and alcohol use disorders, clinical program development, and multidisciplinary team leadership. He has also developed evidence-based clinical protocols and helped expand access to psychiatric services through nationwide telepsychiatry programs.
Dr. Simas offers compassionate, personalized care for every patient and is passionate about supporting individuals on their journeys toward recovery. His years of experience, coupled with his specialized knowledge of the physical and psychological impacts associated with substance use disorders, truly raise the bar on the quality of care offered at Spokane Falls Recovery Center.
